Twelve Youth Change Makers are finishing some of their last few viewer group sessions. These youth have helped share Ba Futuru’s entertainment education film series, Domin Nakloke – which explores issues of domestic violence, sexual assault and healthy relationships between young people. Many of our Youth ChangeMakers share stories of young people changing the way they see romantic relationships, and many young women have felt empowered to talk to their partners about mutual respect in their relationships.
However, these film showings do not only benefit young participants – but also the Youth ChangeMakers managing the experience: “At first I thought this would be an easy activity,” shares Natalia. “However organizing these events have proven to be quite difficult. I have had to work with difficult personalities, and try to figure out how to make these films pertinent to their life. But, I think out of this experience, I have gained some valuable skills – like how to be more accepting of others, and how to work with people from different walks of life”.
Since December 2019, over 1,500 youth have participated in viewer groups – where they watched all Domin Nakloke films and participated in group discussions afterwards.
