Ba Futuru has worked with the Partnership for Human Development, the main sponsor of the Domin Nakloke / Unlocking Love film series, over the last several months in order to finalize post production of episode 4! It is finally ready and the official launch will take place with the Australian Ambassador and various stakeholders in attendance on the 14th of September at the Platinum Cinema in Dili, Timor-Leste.
After this we plan to show the new film to viewer groups in order to assess its impact and broadcast it on national television!
Episode 4 delves into the issue of teenage pregnancy prevention and works to promote open dialogue in a relationship around the risks associated with sex. This is a controversial topic in Timor-Leste, where contraception is still not fully accepted. It also deals with the government of Timor-Leste's new Inclusive Education Policy, which has been passed but is not yet being fully implemented. This policy specifies the importance of pregnant girls and young mothers still receiving an education, to counteract the social norm where many pregnant girls are kicked out of school or not able to come back after having a baby.
In April of 2018 the Executive Producer of Domin Nakloke, Sierra James, and Ba Futuru's Director, Juliana Marcal, attended the Monte-Carlo Television Festival to receive the Hero's Award for the Domin Nakloke film series. This award was presented by Nobel Peace Prize winner Betty Williams!
