Ba Futuru had a giant wrap party with actors and crew yesterday to celebrate finishing the filming of the 4th episode of the Domin Nakloke / Unlocking Love film series which is entitled "Love is Respect". We don't want to spoil the story, but we will say that episode 4 is a continuation from SELFIE, the most famous of the first trio, and there are many faces you'll recognize but we have brought in new talent as well.
Episode 4 delves into the issue of teenage pregnancy prevention and works to promote open dialogue in a relationship around the risks associated with sex. This is a controversial topic in Timor-Leste, where contraception is still not fully accepted. It also deals with the government of Timor-Leste's new Inclusive Education Policy, which has been passed but is not yet being fully implemented. This policy specifies the importance of pregnant girls and young mothers still receiving an education, to counteract the social norm where many pregnant girls are kicked out of school or not able to come back after having a baby.
The talk show that will play directly after the drama, included many influential guests on the topic - the General Director at the Ministry of Education Antoninho Pires; the National Director of the Directorate of National Social Development under the Minister of Social Solidarity, Florencio Pina Dias Gonzaga and a Catholic Priest Father John Labo, and a young women's activist Ernestina Barros de Andrade.
This new film will be finalized later this month, and we are excited to see its impact!
Next week the Executive Producer of Domin Nakloke, Sierra James, and Ba Futuru's Director, Juliana Marcal, will be heading to the Monte-Carlo Television Festival where they will be receiving the Billion Acts of Peace Hero Award for Ba Futuru's Domin Nakloke film series.
