We’re excited to share the latest update on our Bridging the Education Gap with Technology in Maya Communities project, which continues to drive digital equity in Yucatán’s underserved public schools.
1. Funding Progress
Thanks to our generous supporters, we have now raised $1,399 USD of our $32,746 USD goal, which represents approximately 4% of our total target. While we still have a long way to go, every contribution brings us closer to equipping an entire classroom with the technology and resources needed for digital learning.
For context:
$10 USD provides one student with access to digital education for one month.
$17 USD supports a student for two months.
$35 USD supports a student for one semester.
$70–$80 USD supports a student for a full school year.
$125 USD covers the Google for Education exam and preparation for one teacher.
$418 USD covers one month of a teacher mentor’s wage.
$615 USD provides one computer for the media classroom (goal: 10–20 computers per classroom).
We’ve received 38 donations so far, and each contribution is directly transforming the learning experience of students and teachers in Maya communities.
2. Ongoing Impact: Impact So Far in 2025
This year, UNETE has already reached significant milestones in Yucatán. Through funding from GlobalGiving and additional external sources, we have successfully equipped 2 public schools with fully functional media classrooms, impacting a total of 552 students and 23 teachers.
Each classroom received new computers, digital resources, and internet connectivity, ensuring that both students and teachers can engage with modern educational tools. Teachers are also receiving ongoing mentorship and preparation for Google for Education certification, enhancing their digital skills and ensuring the effective integration of technology into their teaching practices.
This progress demonstrates the tangible impact of community support and donor contributions. While we have much more to achieve, these initial successes are already transforming the learning environment for hundreds of students and teachers, setting a strong foundation for expanding digital education throughout the region.
3. Next Steps and Call to Action
The project remains active, and we continue to engage new supporters and donors. Contributions—whether $10 or $615—help provide critical technology and training, bringing us closer to equipping full media classrooms and expanding digital education opportunities.
Your support today allows students in Maya communities to thrive in the digital age. Together, we can continue bridging the education gap in Yucatán and beyond.
