As part of the 2025 International Women's Day Celebration, the Ugwumba Leadership Center empowered 50 rural women selected from across the country with cash awards.
These cash awards were under the Ugwumba Fund for Women, which is our microgrants program designed to support rural women in the rural areas of Nigeria, who are struggling to grow their petty trades in order to support their families.
In his Presidential address, Mr. Nwosu announced that the Center would “Accelerate Actions” towards women empowerment in Africa by stepping up its programs for women under the Ugwumba Women Academy and the U-Fund for Women initiatives.
According to him, “100 rural women in Nigeria shall be empowered this year with our small grants under the U-Fund for Women program, to enable them expand their petty trades across the country.”
The Vice President of the Center, Lolo Uloma also admonished the women to take all the training programs offered to them by the Center seriously, in order to improve their personal and professional lives.
In his remarks, Mr. Chris, the Chairman of the International Advisory Board of the Center also encouraged the women to brace the challenges they face and turn them into opportunities for advancement.
Mrs. Jennifer, the National Coordinator of the Ugwumba Women Academy Network, her Deputy, the Regional Coordinators and the FCT Coordinator in their separate remarks thanked the Management of the Ugwumba Leadership Center for giving them the opportunity to serve in their various capacities.
