Monitoring on Typhoon (GONI) Early Recovery Response for the Affected families in Brgy. Talisay, San Andres, Quezon Province.
On October 20, 2021, Post Distribution Monitoring was conducted in Brgy. Talisay, San Andres, Quezon Province through face-to-face interviews with selected beneficiaries. The PDM aimed to verify the actual use of the livelihood support and how much it helped. It is also aimed to know the challenges while implementing the project and get recommendations for future programs.
STPRC and CDRC were not able to visit and conduct the monitoring due to health restrictions in some municipal boundaries going to the province. With this situation, Youth Volunteers of the United Church of Christ in the Philippines (UCCP)Southern Tagalog Conference, with the guidance of Father Jessie, took the lead in ensuring and helping to facilitate the PDM in Brgy.Talisay.
Beneficiaries who received inputs and fishing gear were glad and shared their harvest with their neighbors.
Results of PDM:
Fishing Gear:
PDM interview was conducted among the selected beneficiaries who received the fishing gear. Mr. Chirley and Mr. Edgar were thankful for the help they received. There was an additional catch as they were able to make additional "kitang" or fishing gear. The income from the sale of fish was spent on their daily needs and their consumption. Some were able to share their catch with their neighbors.
Farm Tools and Inputs:
"The inputs and farm tools we received were helped us", Mrs. Maura and Mr. Nolly. "Vegetable seeds helped us to ensure food security, we will no longer need to buy vegetables especially now that the prices in the market were high". Some of the beneficiaries said that they were able to share some of the harvests with non-beneficiaries.
Sprayers:
Sprayers were used and maximized with farmer-beneficiaries and with non-beneficiaries. Church Volunteers was in charge of the scheduling of the use of the sprayers.
Challenges:
1. Some residents complained that they were not selected as beneficiaries.
2. Delayed activities due to the Covid-19 restriction in the boundaries going to the area.
3. Difficulty in communication due to the limited source of signal in the area.
Recommendation:
1. Explore other possible projects like Solar power tools that might help will help to have electricity during typhoon season.
2. Provide/ conduct Disaster Management Orientation and training for the community members and youth organizations.
3. Develop Emergency Team, that will help to facilitate STPRC and CDRC during data gathering and help their community.
Thank you very much GlobalGiving Team and to all the Donors!
