Since the rise of Covid - 19 infections in Nairobi, Kenya early last year (2020), the dynamics of our project activities changed to ensure that all the project enforcers and members were not exposed to contracting the deadly virus. Previously, HiH EA project
enforcers used to hold capacity building forums where our project members would convene and they would get trained on how to start and operate poultry enterprises, how to save and invest the money they make from these enterprises and also get incentives like
water tanks to ease implementing of their poultry enterprises.
Currently, due to Covid - 19, project enforcers and members cannot convene physically for these capacity building & training forums. Hence HiH EA re-strategized the project activities to accommodate the current world happenings. The new strategy involves our
project enforcers purchasing improved mature indigenous chicken at local markets in the area and giving two of these chicken to each project member. This will facilitate ease of starting up poultry enterprises thus enabling the 220 women to be able to sustain
and improve their livelihoods as well as that of their children. Hopefully in future since we have not yet achieved our set goal for this project, HiH EA will be able to include purchasing of feeds like layer's mash to give to the members.
Enjoy the picture above of our project member showing us her improved mature indigenous chicken!
