In the heart of Aleppo, a young family affectionately known as “The Three Rs” – Rafi, Rita, and little Ronaldo – is finding new hope and stability, thanks to the support of Pro terra Sancta and all of our generous donors.
Rafi, a devoted Real Madrid fan, returned to Syria from Armenia in 2022 to marry Rita. They settled into a modest apartment, trying to build a life together despite the challenges that post-war Aleppo still presents. But in early 2023, their joy at discovering that Rita was expecting a child was quickly overshadowed by anxiety: their apartment had been damaged in the recent earthquake, and with just two hours of electricity per day, the prospect of raising a newborn seemed almost impossible.
That’s when ProTS stepped in. First, the apartment was repaired, ensuring a safe space for the growing family. Then, in May 2024, little Ronaldo was born. Named after the football star – to no one’s surprise, given his father’s passion – the baby quickly became the center of their world.
But the real turning point came with the installation of solar panels. With reliable electricity throughout the day – and, thanks to battery storage, even at night – the family could finally enjoy the simple yet essential comforts of life. Washing baby clothes and preparing warm bottles for Ronaldo were no longer a daily struggle.
Rafi works tirelessly as a sports educator across several community centers, doing his best to provide for the family. Rita contributes as well, working with Syriatel to help make ends meet. Thankfully, they can count on Ronaldo’s grandmother to care for him while they’re at work.
Today, the "Three Rs" are living a life filled with warmth, light, and love – quite literally. Thanks to your support, other families just like them could find a way to live in a better and healthier way.
