Project Report | Oct 7, 2026
19,000 lives helped in Cebu!

By Riel Andaluz | Partnerships and Philanthropy Lead

Thank you very much for supporting our project!

Save the Children has demonstrated its ability to deliver large-scale, child-focused humanitarian assistance in times of crisis.

Following previous emergencies in Cebu, Save the Children worked alongside local government units, schools, communities, and partners to provide life-saving relief and support children's recovery. Across five municipalities/cities and 21 barangays in Cebu, we directly reached 19,431 individuals, including 13,119 children (68%) and 6,312 adults (32%).

The response included a comprehensive package of humanitarian and recovery assistance designed to address children's immediate needs while helping families and communities rebuild:

  • 8,590 children and caregivers reached with psychosocial support services
  • 655 children provided with Back-to-School Kits
  • 483 children supported through Temporary Learning Spaces
  • 4,662 individuals reached with Family Hygiene Kits
  • 2,585 individuals provided with Water Kits
  • 706 individuals assisted through Household Kits
  • 1,245 individuals reached with Plastic Sheets for temporary shelter
  • 1,196 individuals supported through Food Packs
  • 520 households assisted through Cash Transfer Programming

The response was implemented across 11 schools, reaching communities most affected by disaster and helping children resume learning, regain a sense of normalcy, and strengthen their resilience.

This experience demonstrates Save the Children's ability to rapidly mobilize resources, coordinate effectively with government and education authorities, and deliver high-quality learning and child protection interventions even in complex emergency settings. The organization has established relationships with local stakeholders across Cebu and possesses the technical expertise necessary to implement Learning Continuity Spaces that meet global standards for safety, inclusion, accessibility, and child safeguarding.

For the children affected by the Bogo earthquake, this is not the beginning of Save the Children's commitment. It is a continuation of a proven partnership with communities in Cebu. Drawing from lessons and systems established through previous emergency responses, Save the Children continues to support the recovery of earthquake-affected learners and help restore safe, protective, and child-friendly spaces where education can continue.
