Amici di Raoul Follereau, Bangalore project on “Treat 1000 severe anemic women in Karnataka” conducted anemia awareness and screening programme in collaboration with Community Health center, Harohalli on 30th November 2018 at Government PU College in Harohalli. Karnataka.
Dr.Raju Medical doctor of Government community health center, Harolhalli gave awareness talk about Anaemia, signs, and symptoms of anemia, prevalence among unmarried girls and the impact of pregnancy and married life. Dr.Raju and team executed the anemia screening for 100 female students of Government PU College in Harohalli.
Result: Out of 100 girls, 12 female students have HB-12 grams per decilitre. (Considered as Normal) 12 students have HB 11 grams per deciliter and remain 86 girls having hemoglobin 10 grams per deciliter or less than that.

School teachers and student extended their full corporation and expressed happiness and gratitude for this initiative. Screening programme scheduled on the same school for remaining students in the month of December 2018.
2. Anemia awareness program and speech competition on anemia - Nov 2018
The anemia awareness program was conducted at Govt First Grade Degree College in Harohalli on 5th Nov 2018, in collaboration with Community Health Centre Harohalli at Government First grade degree college Harohalli.
Dr. Raju addressed the gathering and gave deep insight about Anaemia. He mentioned “Anaemia is a silent killer disease, in the rural area 64% of women suffering from anemia. It would cause an adverse effect on women and children’s health. This is due to today’s unhealthy diet and irregular physical exercise”. Dr. Raju explained the healthy diet practices, iron, and green vegetables; nutrition food kitchen garden etc. 252 students have actively participated in the awareness program.
The speech competition was conducted on Anaemia and malnutrition in women as part of the Anaemia awareness. The program mainly focused on increasing effective awareness of sickle cell anemia as a major health issue worldwide.
10 students spoke on the topic, 252 students were witnessed in the program. The best three students were selected and awarded with cash prize and certificate. Speech computation participants are 1.Ramya, 2.Abhilasha, 3.Kokhila, 4.Pragathi, 5.Nikhitha, 6.Naleeni, 7.Pallavi, 8.Aprith, 9.Bhavya, 10.Bhagyalakshmi.
