Village Health Sanitation and Nutrition Committee (VHSNC) training in association with Asha workers

The Village Health Sanitation and Nutrition Committee (VHSNC) play a vital role in implementing the major initiatives that are planned through the Village Health Plan. It can also be considered as a platform through which all the identified village-level needs are fulfilled.
Presently the Harohalli hobli having a total of 11 VHSNC (Such as Harohalli town-2, Marasandra, Mudenahalli, Medamaranahalli, Badesabaradoddi, Hosagabbadi, Paruvaianapalya, Kaggalhalli, Edamadu, and Vaderahalli.). All these VHSNCs facilitated to contribute to addressing the issues related to health and nutrition aspects of the women in the community. All these VHSNCs are also provided with awareness about Anemia and it complications and the importance of nutrition, especially for women and girls.
In General, each VHSNC consists of 12-15 members. Panchayat Raj Institution member plays the vital role of the president and ASHA is the convener or member secretary of the concerned VHSNC. Altogether a total of 131 VHSNC members and 156 women SHG members in the villages were made aware of the Anemia condition and the importance of nutrition food. The participants expressed their happiness about the awareness program and thanked the organizers.

Amici di Raoul Follereau (AIFO India), Samruddhi Community Based Inclusive Development project Harohalli conducted “Anemia and awareness and screening program” in association with CHC Harohalli at Government First Degree College, Harohalli.
Anaemia and awareness and screening program was conducted in association with the Community Health Centre on 1st March 2019 at Government First Degree College in Harohalli. Dr Bhujabsli CHC Harohalli Before screening gave awareness talk about Anaemia, it complication and prevention. He also stressed the importance of nutritious food like dark leafy and vegetables and protein.
150 girl students were screened for Haemoglobin and blood grouped.
Deworming tablets provided for all 150 students.
Iron and folic acid supplement provided for 85 students.
Deworming campaign:-
Amici di Raoul Follereau (AIFO India), Samruddhi Community Based Inclusive Development project Harohalli conducted “Deworming campaign and Tablet distribution” in association with CHC Harohalli at RHS high school and college Harohalli.
The deworming campaign was conducted on 8th February 2019 in collaboration with Community Health Centre at RHS high school and college students. Zilla Panchayat president and members, Taluk Panchayat president and members, District health officer, Taluk Health Officer was present on this occasion. The doctor spoke about the importance of deworming among on students.
There were one thousand students participated in the program and received deworming tablets on the same day.

Amici di Raoul Follereau (AIFO India), Samruddhi Community Based Inclusive Development project Harohalli conducted “Free Anemia Awareness, Screening, and treatment program” in association with CHC Harohalli on 9th January 2019 and Primary Health Center, Domaradoddi on 23rd January 2019. Total of 150 women benefitted from these two camps.
Camp 1:
Anemia screening camp was conducted at Harohalli CHCs on 9th January 2019. Thirty-five pregnant women were participated and screened by doctors. Doctors distributed Iron plus tablets and nutrients supplements for all these women.
Camp 2:
Free Anemia Awareness, screening, and treatment program” in association with Primary Health Center, Domaradoddi and Department of Women & Child development department, Harohalli.This program was conducted for pregnant women, self-help groups’ members, and adolescent girls on 23rd January 2019, at Anganavadi center in Kadasikoppa village, Harohalli hobli. Total of 116 women screened for Anemia, out of whom 57 women distributed Iron plus, 45 women distributed deworming tablets, and 14 women referred for further detailed investigation.
Mr. T.S.Gangadhar Senior Health Inspector, District health office, V.B.D.C. Division Ramanagara participated as a chief guest in the program and spoke about the effects of anemia on mental and physical health. Anemia prevalence is high in children, pregnant women, and teenage girls. The Anemia affects 67% of children below 5 yrs., 58% of pregnant women, 50% of reproductive-aged women, 17-25% of teenage girls. Interestingly, 20-40% of mothers are dying due to anemia in India. Failing to recognize and treat anemia in children leads to a lack of concentration in studies, negligence in pregnant women leads to child development issues and disabilities.
Mr. Mahantesh project coordinator introduced the aims and objectives of this project and spoke about the importance of organic food, kitchen garden, and a healthy diet. Miss Jayalakshmi, Counselor, HIV/AIDS prevention division of Harohalli CHC spoke about the importance of healthy living and ways to maintain the same. She spoke about HIV and AIDS prevention too.
In the program self-help group members, Anganwadi teachers, AHSA workers, and health staffs have participated. Miss Tara Anganavadi teacher expressed the vote of thanks.
Amici di Raoul Follereau, Bangalore project on “Treat 1000 severe anemic women in Karnataka” conducted International day of persons with disabilities, Anaemia awareness and screening programme in collaboration with Community Health center, Harohalli on 18th December 2018 at Mahatma PU college and rural high school students at Kariyappa auditorium in Harohalli.
Dr. Raju Medical officer and Administrator community health center Harohalli participated as a chief guest in the programme and explained about the signs and symptoms of anemia, prevalence among unmarried girls and the impact of pregnancy and married life. He also stressed that the number of diseases occurs due to unhealthy lie style such lack of nutritional food and junks food and lack of exercise. He advised everyone to start a healthy lifestyle practice as an agenda for the New Year 2019.
Mr. H.K.Nagaraju Zilla Panchayath member inaugurated the programme and described the role of women in building a healthy society is inevitable. In rural areas, poverty and malnutrition is the biggest hidden problem which results in anemia in children, women, adolescents, and pregnant women. The Government health department works best to make awareness about this. Amici di Raoul Follereau (AIFO India), Samruddhi community based inclusive development project is joining hands with government and public to raise health awareness. Amici’s Anaemia project for girls and women in Harohalli hobli is doing a good job.
Dr. Raju MedIcal officer Dr.Ragu.T.Gokhale Children specialist and Dr. Manjula from Community Health Center, Harohalli were actively participated and screened the students. Mr. N.Krishna principal Mahatma PU college, Mr. Nanjundaswamy H.M. Rural high school participated as a chief guest in the programme.
Dr. Jose Director AIFO India, Dr. Jayanthkumar Head of the program AIFO, Mr. T.V.Srinivasan president of SRMAB Bangalore, Mr. Joseph Secretary of SRMAB Bangalore participated in this programme. Mr.Shrikanthaiah Taluk Panchayath member, Mr.Sayad Sallam Uddhin Taluk Panchayath member, Mr. Mahamad Ejes ex-president of Rotary Club, harohalli also attended this programme.
Three people with disabilities receive the wheelchairs on this occasion.

35 female students were given deworming tablet and iron tablet given for 45 girls on 14th Nov 2018 by Amici di Raoul Follereau Samruddi Project.
