The anemia awareness and screening camp were conducted jointly by the Samruddhi CBID project of Amici di Raoul Follereau (AIFO) and Community Health Center (CHC) Harohalli on 20th November 2019 at Govt high school Harohalli. The main purpose of the camp was to screen girl students anemic conditions and to create awareness among the students about health, its consequences and to maintain nutritious status at the local level. Dr. Pruthivi from the Govt CHC, conducted awareness sessions about anemia related issues, problems among girl students and how to overcome those problems at the local level. Dr. Pruthivi also shared the importance of using local vegetables, fruits, and maintaining healthy practices.
With support from the CHC medical team, the project screened a total of 113 students. Out of which, 93 students were distributed iron and folic acid tablets, 16 students were referred for nutrition supplementary food and 4 students were referred for higher assessment.
Mr. Mahantesh project coordinator of samruddhi AIFO Coordinated the screening camp and he also spoke about anemic issues. Mr. Mahantesh extended thanks to the management of Govt. high school and in particular to all the teachers for their support. Mr. Patil in-charge headmaster of the school also expressed gratitude to the Samruddhi project, the CHC team for the awareness creation among students and their support in caring for student's health concerns.
