Children carriers and donation collectors!

Donations received by Hearts of Hope
The vehicles that we have at Hearts of Hope are not only used to carry the children to school and extra-murals and outings, they are also used for collecting donations and delivering coffee.
The coffee is one of the income generators for the children's home. We have partnered with a coffee roastery and have launched an online shop on our website for people to order. We offer delivery in the Johannesburg area and Bra Joe, our driver, is often seen driving around with various coffee orders. Have a look at our website and see what we can offer a discerning coffee snob.
The other use of the car, is when individuals or corporates contact us with donations in kind, that they cannot drop off themselves. Bra Joe drives all over collecting clothes, food, furniture and anything that might be donated and is useful for the children's home.
Thank-you to all who have supported this transport project - it has been our biggest generator of funds on GlobalGiving. We haven't managed to fully cover the costs of the new vehicles, but the fund have gone a long way towards helping.

The joy of a new vehicle - outings!
By Catherine Bean | Development Officer
![What can we choose?]()
What can we choose?
The children and Bra Joe are loving the new vehicle which takes them to school in the morning and then to any outings that may be planned by companies or individuals.
We try and take our children out as much as we can. Even with an incredible place like Hearts of Hope, which is a caring and nurturing home for the children, the children can become isolated within the home with no outside activities or interaction with others.
Some of the littlies were taken on a shopping outing to give them an experience of being in a grocery store, choosing what they wanted and then buying the items with their pocket money.
Another outing was to the local SPCA - as a children's home, we aren't allowed to have pets, so it was a wonderful experience for the children to be introduced to domestic animals and to learn about their care.
Thank-you for supporting Hearts of Hope by giving towards our transport fund. Please share our story with your friends and family, so that we can receive more donations towards this project, and keep our children on the move!

New Suzuki wheels!
By Catherine Bean | Development Officer
![The new Suzuki 7-seater]()
The new Suzuki 7-seater
We had to bite the bullet and buy a new 7-seater Suzuki vehicle last month!
It cost us R350 000 ($19 150) for the new vehicle so we are a quarter of the way along to raising the full amount on GlobalGiving. Please consider helping us to close this funding gap.
We were forced to buy the new vehicle, as the cost of repairing the old vehicle was becoming prohibitive, and in order to keep our children safe, we needed to buy a new car.
Bra Joe has been loving driving the new car and the children have enjoyed the new car smell when they are taken and fetched from school.
To quote Joe: "the new car is nice, comfortable, easy to drive, shows you where to drive when reversing, tracks petrol and the speed limit. It is a lovely upgrade and very importantly, it is easy to fasten seatbelts and to move chairs when the children are getting into the car."
