By Guillaume Lonhoudjo | Director of Programming, Bio-Benin
This summer, Bio-Benin has taken on 11 more apprentices to train with our facilitator at Chez Guillaume. Their training enables them to become professional chefs and earn a living wage working at restaurants in West Africa or even overseas.
Facilitator, Guillaume Lonhoudjo has added courses in pastry making, the artful plating of dishes, the English names of dishes they prepare, good service skills, plus management and budgeting skills to professionalize our apprentices and enhance their entrepreneurial skills.
The students are loving it and there is often a waiting list to sign up for new spots in the program. The government has also shortened the program to receive professional accreditation from three years to 18 months, so these graduates will be on their way to a better, more lucrative life in record time. Bravo to them all from Bio-Benin, who thanks you for your support that pays the costs of training, lodging, physical and medical needs for our students during their time with us.
