Bio-Benin provides practical training to transform the lives of young women and men through organic farming, restaurant cooking and craft beer brewing. We empower students to earn a living wage and improve their lives . We find jobs for all our students. Some become entrepreneurs and start their own businesses. We give hope for the future in this underprivileged, neglected part of West Africa.
In Natitingou, northern Benin, the young find no jobs that pay a living wage. Food insecurity is high and many die young from poor nutrition. Environmental issues are neglected. Many flee the region or try to emigrate to other countries.
By providing practical, professional training in restaurant cooking, craft beer brewing and organic farming, Bio-Benin gives young women and men hope for the future and guarantees employment at a living wage. Currently we train some 20 students a year. By expanding and adding capabilities we plan to train up to 100 a year in these three disciplines.
In ten years Bio-Benin will be the largest center for practical training and full-time employment in the north of Benin. We will employ 50 people directly and empower 100's more to earn a living wage. This will improve the lives of some 5,000 wage earners and their families. Bio-Benin is a beacon of hope in a destitute and neglected region of Benin and our efforts create meaningful change for the better.
