Dear Supporters,
I watched a four-year-old boy pull a new pair of Crocs out of a bag. The room buzzed around him.
He stared at them: Yellow, new, and just for him.
Then his face lit up, and he immediately sat down, determined to pull them on himself.
Within minutes, the whole room in the children’s center was filled with the squeaky noises of dozens of shoes being tested.
Every child had received something small, something chosen, something that belonged to them.
For a few minutes, the entire orphanage echoed with laughter and squeaking steps.
That sound stayed with me.
At first, it was just loud. But as I watched them, it felt like the simple sound of joy.
I’ve seen that same joy in other corners of Lobiko. In a young seamstress beaming as she finished her first skirt, in farmers standing proudly beside bags of harvested rice, in the voice of a young mother holding her baby, born safe and sound.
At Lobiko, we are not only meeting needs just in the moment.
We are pursuing holistic thriving: walking with children and communities over time, tending to physical, emotional, and spiritual well-being.
Thriving is rarely immediate or linear. More often, it grows through steady presence:
You are seen.
You matter.
You are loved.
And because of you, dear reader, those squeaky steps filled that room.
Thank you for being part of these joyful, lasting moments.
Today, consider how your steady presence creates joy for someone else.
