This project will transform the educational system for more than 90 children and youth living in one of the most marginalized regions of El Salvador. At Amun Shea School, we provide students with hands-on, problem-based learning opportunities that address the real issues faced in rural El Salvador, like climate change, food insecurity, and poor water quality. Your donation ignites our students' dreams and supports our amazing staff.
COVID-19 has created the largest disruption of education in history with rural areas in low-income countries being hit the hardest, like here in Northern Morazan, El Salvador. This continuous challenge exacerbates existing realities of poverty, climate change, food insecurity, low-quality education, & internet inequality in the region. This project will elevate the education and nutrition of more than 90 students and their families who live in rural Northern Morazan, El Salvador.
Amun Shea School is a full-day, high-quality educational program that provides students (ages 5+) with the skills and tools to become #changemakers for their families and communities. Through Amun Shea School's commitment to climate action and land stewardship, innovative entrepreneurship, and relevant technical training, we reimagine what rural education can be and will directly transform the educational system for a brighter and more peaceful El Salvador.
Rural education that is focused on solving socioeconomic obstacles while also attending to students' nutritional needs will not only open doors for our 90 students and their families at Amun Shea but for all students in rural El Salvador as our school's model serves as a revolutionary prototype. Amun Shea students will become innovative thinkers and powerful agents of change who will be responsible for long-term, positive improvements in community development. They are future Salvadoran leaders.
