Training continues - slow and steady

First aid training at Hearts of Hope
First aid training at Hearts of Hope

The training programme is showing positive development, with learners actively engaging in both theoretical and practical components. Notable milestones include exam preparation, completion of First Aid training, and the introduction of privately funded and male learners into the programme.

The pilot group from the staff of Hearts of Hope completed their Knowledge Modules in January 2025. They are now completing their Workplace Modules and have begun preparation for the EISA examination, scheduled to take place in October 2025.

The EISA Examination, (External Integrated Summative Assessment) is a new national examination being run by the QCTO - (Quality Council for Trades and Organisations). All learners undergoing training programmes related to occupational qualifications will write an examination specific to their trade. The exams will be written in March and October each year.

A new group of learners began in June 2025, with learners from Baby Angels, AFM and St Mary's.This group has made a solid start to the training. Learners will be handing in their first Workplace Module at the end of July 2025. The group includes two male candidates, contributing to greater diversity in the training programme.

Conclusion

All training groups are progressing well within their expected timelines. Learners are actively engaging in both classroom-based and practical components of their training. The inclusion of private learners and increased gender diversity is a positive development for the programme. Continued monitoring and support will ensure successful completion of workplace modules and readiness for the EISA exams.
