The training of Child and Youth Care Workers has started with a bang this year. Since March 2024, we have had 48 participants sign up either individually or through their non-profits, to attend the year long course. Four children's homes are using the Hearts of Hope training centre - Hearts of Hope itself, Acres of Love, Almond Tree and AFM. This imnediate uptake has shown the tremendous need for this kind of training in South Africa.
The first intake started in March, the second intake started in August and the third intake started in October.
It is a Level 5 accreditation, with 190 credits which involves a lot of work and learning on the part of the participants.
Some of the feedback that our facilitator has received from the participants so far:
The training centre already has an additional 40 participants signed up to start next year in 2025 which is really exciting.
If we get funding for this course, we will be able to provide under-privileged individuals with an opportunity to learn a skill and hopefuly, find employment.
