Challenge

The effects drugs and alcohol have on our society are disastrous. Millions of lives have been ruined, and many lives ended before their time. A sustained culture of knowledge entrepreneurship requires an infrastructure based on networks and clusters, which governments and development partners can facilitate but these efforts have not been crystallized. The Government of Kenya recognizes the dangers/problems of a society that large number of its population is drug and substance abusers.

Solution

Hand in Hand Eastern Africa will train the youths through the integrated enterprise development training model and enable the rehabilitated youths access credit and markets for their enterprises. The enterprise development modules will cover basic skills on savings, enterprise development, financial management, access to finance, market linkages and value addition and on environmental conservation

Long-Term Impact

Socio-economic empowerment of 250 youths rehabilitated from drug and substance use in Kiambu County, Kenya
