One of the biggest challenges for Team Rubicon has been having adequate funding available to enable us to respond to disasters, wherever and whenever they occur. Donors' generosity has enabled us to deploy quickly, however, not all disasters gain the attention needed to raise urgent funds. Around the world, disasters are a part of life. No corner of the globe is spared from severe weather-be it crippling winter storms, catastrophic hurricanes, or unchecked wildfires. When disaster strikes, TR works alongside local governments and agencies to provide services to those who are most vulnerable. Team Rubicon focuses on underserved or economically challenged communities to make the largest impact possible.
To date, Team Rubicon is the only disaster relief organization that repurposes the unparalleled skills and experiences of military veterans to immediately deploy disaster emergency response teams. To date, we are the first North American nonprofit to receive a WHO certification for EMT Type-1 Mobile Response Team medical operations. This means that we are a member of an elite group of organizations that may enter the most austere environments, providing mobile medical care to people in need.
To offset the disproportionate impacts of housing loss on vulnerable communities, TR focuses services on households that are low-income and possess vulnerabilities linked to more challenging recoveries, including households with children, seniors, people with disabilities, the uninsured and those significantly under-insured. Team Rubicon ensures services are directed to communities and individuals where they will have the greatest impact. Year-round preparedness leads to faster recovery.
