We believe that all children deserve the opportunity to thrive, regardless of where they come from. We work to break the cycle of poverty and empower rural communities in Mpumalanga, SA, through education, food security, health services and emotional support to women and children. Support to both vulnerable children and their families is offered through multiple programmes including our Orphaned & Vulnerable Children and Early Childhood Development.
Children are a particularly vulnerable group within severely poverty stricken communities. There are over 4 million orphans in South Africa, about half of whom have lost one or both parents to AIDS, with the majority of these children living in child-headed households or with elderly relatives. These vulnerable families, who have little or no access to education, healthcare & social services are Topsy's beneficiaries. Topsy's serves 3 impoverished communities in Mpumalanga, South Africa.
Providing holistic support to Early Childhood Development Centres and centres for children with disabilities in the communities. Provide monthly food parcels to the vulnerable families. Provide a sustainable food source for the community through the planting of vegetable gardens. Provide vulnerable children with school uniforms and stationery; Provide at risk school learners with additional support with their learning. Provide social support, assisting with accessing government grants and care.
We are contributing to building a future generation of well adjusted children in poverty stricken, rural communities in the hope that they reach their full potential.
