Hurricane Matthew hits Haiti earlier this month with all its force and left behind devestation and at the same time many people willing to help each other. America Solidaria Haiti has been working in Haiti for almost 15 years and based on these long term relationships, we would like to help channel resources to support those affected. We hope that your support may provide urgent relief to those in need of access to clean water.
Hurricane Matthew hit Haiti with all its force as a category 4 hurricane earlier this month. It left behind destroyed homes and businesses, disabled infraestructure and left many people searching for their most basic necesisties. Very few members of the Haitian community were left untouched. Overall, the Haitian government estimates that 1,410,907 people are in need of humitarian assistance and 894,057 are among those affected. One of the most urgent necesesities is access to clear water.
America Solidaria Haiti (ASH) has been working in Haiti for almost 15 years and has established relationships with the communities in Boutin (Croix des Bouquets) and Les Cayes. ASH hopes to serve these communities by addressing urgent public health needs by providing access to clean water in these communities. ASH hopes to do this by providing emergency relief kits to as many families as possible during the months of October, November and December.
In the longer term, ASH will continue to work along the communities of Boutin (Croix des Bouquets) and Les Caye focusing on water, sanitation and hygiene issues. ASH will be working over the next several years to promote sustainable and longer term solutions to providing access to clean water to the members of these communities.
