In Ghana, over 70% of children access the internet daily, yet many face risks like cyberbullying, exploitation, and misinformation without proper guidance. "The Silent Mountaineer," a book by COA's Executive Director, shares a real-life story of resilience and triumph to unpack online safety through storytelling. The project will print 50,000 copies and distribute to all 246 girls schools across Ghana, reaching a million young people. A vital tool to equip a generation of digitally savvy girls.
Ghana's digital revolution with internet penetration among children surging to 75% in urban areas and growing rapidly in rural ones. Reports show a 40% increase in child cyberbullying cases since 2023, alongside vulnerabilities to grooming, privacy breaches, and harmful content exposure. Only 20% of schools incorporate digital safety curricula, leaving millions of children especially in underserved rural regions unprepared for the online world. Without intervention, 40% will be at risk.
