This project will establish 10 free sanitary pad distribution centres across 10 communities in Ghana, providing free packs of essential sanitary products for vulnerable girls each month. Our goal is to provide underprivileged menstruating girls with free sanitary pads monthly, so they feel empowered and dignified to stay in school at all times. By providing a safe and hygienic environment to access free sanitary pads, this initiative addresses multiple challenges at a go.
Regrettably, a significant number of girls in Ghana are unable to afford sanitary pads during their menstruation and thus resort to unsafe materials to collect menstrual blood, risking their reproductive health. Girls who cannot afford sanitary pads often choose to stay home during their menstruation days, leading to missed school days. In some cases, others rely on male partners for financial support to purchase sanitary pads for their menstrual cycles.
By providing a safe and hygienic environment to access free sanitary pads, this initiative addresses multiple challenges at a go; Improved hygiene and reduced reproductive tract infections, increased school attendance, and empowerment among other benefits.
