Located on the 3rd floor of a crowded residential plot with no enough playing field,Motherway high school,a newly formed school in the sprawling area of Mathare North just a few kilometres to Mathare slums was eager to learn english literacy through football regardless of the school’s status and lack of enough teachers based on the fact that it’s an informal school.
The introduction of “Double Club program for secondary school” in their school came in handy as the school lacks enough teachers for Egnlish literacy lessons and a few who are there are already overwhelmed by the ever increasing number of students from poor backgrounds who are yearning for basic education. The project runs as an after-school club, and increasingly in curriculum time with football being the motivation, and all education resoources are based on Arsenal or football in general.
“Being a young aspiring footballer,i like the program because it combines both football and education which is very key to my future. The program is giving me confidence and self-esteem in literacy.” Said John Mwambu a form 3 student at Motherway high school.
“We would like to request well wishers through global giving foundation and other sources to contribute towards this worthy cause as we continue to impact the lives of many student with education and literacy through football” Enouce Ndeche,Director
