Many children in Nairobi's slums struggle to finish education. VAP has teamed up with Arsenal in the community to bring the "Double Club" initiative, which combines the importance of literacy with the excitement of football coaching to make learning as stimulating as it should be. This scheme uses stories of top players to engage children into expressing their dreams and ambitions using the English Language. Supporting this project will help them to enjoy learning English literacy and football.
The level of football skills and English literacy amongst the Kenyan youth is on very low standards. The Arsenal Double Club project will use football and education to form a fun, and enjoyable way for young people to engage with academic studies and football at the same time.
The football coaching element is an essential part of Arsenal Double Club. The student participants get a lesson: a language session and a football one. Arsenal Double Club sessions are intended to supplement the National curriculum, rather than replace it.
Through this football and education project, youth in Kenya will develop and improve their football skills and English literacy as they grow up. This consequently reduces the alarming rates of English literacy and luck of football skills amongst youth.
