Electronic teaching aids for disabled children

(Project #21529 from Balajothi Centre for the Disabled Trust)

Funding goal : $2,000 / Funds raised to date : $562

Project report due on : Sep 6, 2020 / Report sent on : Sep 5, 2020

Children with special needs have a lot of difficulty communicating and interacting with others. They also find it very difficult to grasp concepts like numbers and alphabets if they are taught using conventional class room techniques.

Solution

This project will equip our children and care-givers with electronic teaching aids like toys with audio-visual capabilities, lego blocks and tablets. Our experience has shown that these teaching aids completely transform the way children learn and interact. For example, they feel really comfortable with tablets and explore different apps by themselves. They also internalize concepts taught using these aids much more easily.

Long-Term Impact

This project will benefit all the 25 children we train at our facility. Additionally, the concept has been enthusiastically adapted by our special children in the CBR programs.  In the long run, it will develop vocational skills such as typing and data entry that can help these children find jobs. It will also be a great benefit to their families and our occupational therapists.

Balajothi thanks YOU, DONOR, for your sacrificial donation of $562 to date. Despite the economic difficulties during the COVID-19 pandemic. The value of your donation is immense in that the children have been provided life-changing therapy and skills and is keeping them usefully occupied, not to speak of the relief to the parents.  We are grateful for this ongoing support in the form of donations which will help us to add more equipment and hire teachers in training the children.

Balajothi thanks GlobalGiving for their support and guidance in raising funds on their platform to help our cause.  Thank you GlobalGiving !!
