Supply Textbooks for 10 Classrooms in Tanzania

Dear friends,

I am writing to thank you for your support of our work, and for providing textbooks for students in Tanzania. Your support is truly making a difference in the lives of students in the most rural and needy parts of Tanzania!

Recently, I had the chance to visit one of AfricAid's partner schools in a rural Maasai village, called Losinoni Primary School. We made a contribution of textbooks at this school, and the head of school and students could not be more grateful. Now, the students do not have to share one book per classroom. Rather, pairs of students have the opportunity to read and use textbooks together, vastly improving their learning abilities and providing a significantly higher level of education!

In fact, at Losinoni Primary School, we received some very exciting news. The head of of school told us that, in 2003, when we first starting working at the school, only 13 of the 65 7th-year students went on to high school. Now in 2010, a total of 64 out of 65 students went on to high school -- almost unheard of in Tanzania, but especially in a remote community like Losinoni! The entire community is so proud of their school and their students, and they attribute this new success to the improvements made at the school through books, new classrooms, and the school lunch program -- all provided by AfricAid.
