Talleres - Workshops for young people in Honduras

We have some news from our project “Talleres” in Honduras!

The vocational preparation project enables disadvantaged young people to gain practical experience in various trades in a 3-year programme. The choice of seven trades - from cosmetics to welding - helps the young people to develop their individual potential under the professional guidance of certified instructors. The programme ends with a nationally recognised examination.

This is an important prerequisite for further qualification as a trained specialist. The current direct beneficiaries of this project are 109 people, 52 women and 57 men. In the past, there have been private funders that have donated materials to the vocational workshops and this has been very helpful. It will be helpful to maintain these contacts.

Generally, there would be a need for more space for projects and better materials. A lot of the machines used in the workshop are out of date.

As spring is around the corner, some news from our project in Honduras: we are happy to announce that the demand for the training programme increases every year.

The professional training project "Talleres" enables young people in Honduras to gain practical experience in various trades such as welding, automotive mechanics, painting, carpentry, electrical engineering, cosmetics and tailoring in a three-year program. The classes are taught by Honduran professionals. Young people are willing to participate in workshops, because they are convinced that they are learning very important skills for career preparation, but also capacities that can be useful for their communities. The girls are especially excited to learn skills in traditionally male-dominated professions. Talleres encourage participants to challenge traditional gender roles.

Unfortunately, the funding of Talleres is always at risk due to high inflation and an increase in the cost of living in Honduras. After 2024 it will be unclear. Please consider supporting Talleres again, if you can and if you are as passionate about this project as we are! We are always happy to receive further donations.
