Planting by 7th Grade at Los Algarrobos School

Last august, 7th grade students at Los Agarrobos school carried out a plant_planting activity at the school entrance.

This initiative was part of an educational project that seeks to promote environmental stewardship and ecological responsibility among students.

Students were responsible for preparing the soil, planting, and watering the assigned species. Organic healthy plant growth.

Results

The day was a success, with a total of 10 plants planted. The students demonstrated enthusiasm and commitment throughout the activity. The school entrance now looks greener and more welcoming, improving the school environment and promoting a sense of belonging and responsibility among the students.

Conclusions

Planting plants at the entrance of Los Algarrobos School was an educational and motivating activity that not only beautified the surroundings but also strengthened environmental values among the students. We plan to monitor plant growth and organize periodic maintenance sessions.

Learning to Care, Together

At Los Algarrobos School, this semester brought a unique opportunity for growth and connection. Thanks to the incredible volunteers from Quadra Academy in Philadelphia, our teachers took part in an inspiring environmental education workshop.

Through hands-on activities and meaningful conversations, we learned about the importance of protecting our planet and how small, everyday actions can create big change. This visit planted seeds of environmental responsibility and global friendship that will continue to grow in the hearts of our teachers.

With your support, we can keep building these bridges of learning, shaping young leaders committed to their communities and to the world we share.

Reimagining Waste, One Tire at a Time

At Los Algarrobos School, creativity met sustainability in the most colorful way. This semester, our students gave a second life to discarded tires—transforming them into cheerful Minion-themed planters. What once was waste is now a source of joy, beauty, and greenery on our school grounds. This project not only brightened our campus, but also planted powerful lessons in the hearts of our students: that with imagination and teamwork, we can turn problems into solutions.

After a well-deserved break, the Los Algarrobos School community has returned full of energy and renewed motivation. Environmental Education Program update: Empowering Students to Restore Nature

At Los Algarrobos School, environmental education goes beyond the classroom, empowering students to take meaningful action in their surroundings. This year, sixth-grade students demonstrated remarkable leadership by identifying and addressing an ecological issue within their school grounds.

During their environmental studies class, students observed that several areas of the schoolyard had lost their plant cover, leaving dry, barren spaces. Recognizing an opportunity to restore these areas, they designed and implemented a reforestation initiative. With the guidance of their teacher, Tanya Zambrano, they mapped the affected zones, selected native plant species, and organized a planting day. Equipped with tools and a strong sense of purpose, they worked together to revitalize their school environment.

Beyond reforestation, the students also took the initiative to improve and maintain the school’s gardens. With a structured approach, they carried out regular activities such as soil maintenance, plant care, and area clean-ups. Their ongoing commitment transformed the gardens into vibrant spaces that not only enhance biodiversity but also foster a sense of pride and environmental responsibility within the school community.

This initiative provided students with hands-on experience in sustainability, teamwork, and leadership, reinforcing key values that extend beyond academic learning. Their efforts exemplify how environmental education can cultivate a generation of informed and proactive individuals in conservation efforts.
