Community Health Programme: Jul-Sept 2026 Update

By Alfred Muheria Aswan | Fundraising and Operations

The last quarter, July to September, brought strong progress and positive impact for families in Kibagare, Nairobi, despite rising living costs and inflation, lack of employment opportunities, and businesses regressing due to low purchasing power.

Despite these many challenges, efforts to encourage and transform this community through the initiatives set out to help in one way are working, and we are hoping to continue doing as much as we can with the help we receive through donations.

Our impact at a glance

  • 1,034 members in 42 savings groups (80% women)
  • 401 people counselled, and 1,519 reached with mental health awareness
  • 97% of our 77 clients living with HIV are virally suppressed
  • 1,102 children supported in school
  • 1,500–1,700 children fed every Saturday (14,400 meals this quarter)
  • 2.8 tonnes of vegetables and 2.5 tonnes of maize grown for school meals

Stories of change

  • A group of young women footballers, none of them employed, saved KSh 98,400 in just three months.
  • Four boda boda riders now own their motorbikes after borrowing from their savings group.
  • A Grade 10 student turned her grades around after counselling and won a scholarship.
  • 28 young people are learning tailoring for free, and graduates now make the school’s uniforms.

Our challenges
Inflation is cutting families’ savings and incomes. Our tailoring school has more young women waiting for a place, but we lack space and machines.

How you can help

  • Buy a sewing machine so a young woman can learn a trade
  • Fund a loan boost for a savings group
  • Provide a food basket for one of the 101 most vulnerable households

Thank you for standing with the children and families of Kibagare.
