Building Hope: Supporting Children Through Relocating

By Victoria Spencer | Founder and President

Dear Donors,

We extend our deepest gratitude to all our generous supporters. Your continued commitment has been a lifeline for the children at Mbale Child Care Foundation, especially during this challenging and transitional period.

Relocation & New Home Construction

Mbale Child Care is currently undergoing a major transition. After seven years in our current location, we are required to relocate and establish a permanent home for the children.

Through our partnership with Save Children of Mbale, we successfully secured land where we are now constructing a new home. We are pleased to report that:

  • Construction has progressed to the roofing level
  • The structure is taking shape and bringing hope to the children

However, urgent support is still needed to:

  • Complete roofing (iron sheets installation)
  • Install doors and essential finishes

Our goal is to make the house habitable before July, ensuring the children have a safe and stable place to call home.

To stay organized and committed to this goal, our founder Nandala Joseph (Tonny) and our dedicated volunteer Brenda opened a savings account with a supplier of iron sheets. This allows us to gradually secure materials until we reach the required amount.

Challenges & Urgent Situation

The transition has not been without difficulties:

  • We have been restricted in activities on the current land
  • The landlord requested our departure, leading to intervention by local authorities
  • After discussions, we were granted time until July to relocate

This situation has added urgency to completing the new home.

Health & Emergency Support

We have also faced health challenges among the children:

  • One of our children, Aisha, was hospitalized due to malaria
  • Thanks to your support, she received proper treatment and has fully recovered

Your donations made it possible to respond quickly to this emergency.

Improving Living Conditions

Through funds received via GlobalGiving, we were able to address urgent needs:

  • Replaced old and worn-out mattresses
  • Purchased new blankets
  • Provided clothing for the children

These improvements have greatly enhanced the children’s comfort and well-being.

Welcoming New Children

Recently, we welcomed two vulnerable twin babies into our care:

  • Named Jayson and Jovan
  • After all efforts to locate their family were unsuccessful, we made the decision to care for them within MCCF

They are now safe, loved, and part of our growing family.

Looking Ahead: Sustainability Goals

Mbale Child Care is working toward long-term sustainability:

  • Plan to grow our own food once we relocate
  • The new land will provide space for farming and self-sufficiency
  • This will reduce reliance on donations over time

At our current location, we are unable to implement these initiatives due to restrictions.

A Message of Gratitude

To all our donors and partners:
Your kindness continues to transform lives. In moments of uncertainty, your support gives us strength, stability, and hope.

Urgent Call for Support

As we approach the July deadline, we humbly ask for continued support to:

  • Complete the roofing
  • Install doors
  • Ensure a safe and timely relocation for the children

Every contribution brings us closer to giving these children the secure home they deserve.

With much gratitude,

Tonny, Mbale Child Care Foundation Team
