Dear Sustainable Rural Life friends,
We are closing 2012 with great accomplishments on our program and we are more than happy to share them with you.
A Mexican overnight mail company named Servicio Continental de Mensajería (SCM) which has been a close ally to the program since 2007, gave us this last year about $100,000USD to purchase 450 solar pots, 60 Clean Cookstoves and 20 solar heaters to implement them in the homes of the company employees located in four states of Mexico: Querétaro, Puebla, Tlaxcala and Veracruz.
Differently from past year, this year the employees learned how to implement the ecotechnolgies to transfer that knowledge to their communities. Collaborating alongside a social enterprise such as SCM has been very exciting and also a big step, it is the first time that SRL partners with an enterprise to implement a project together.
Besides this accomplishment, we were recently informed that the Canadian Fund in Mexico is about to give us a donation of $40,000.00 USD to continue helping rural communities to improve their life quality.
This amazing project is able to transform communities in three aspects: economical, environmental as well as sanitary by reducing diseases generated by the daily exposure to open fires. For 2012 we are proud to say that more than 900 families have been directly benefitted from the program.
