In North Kivu, DR Congo, years of conflict have left deep divisions among young people. Many face manipulation, mistrust, and lack of opportunities, increasing the risk of violence and recruitment into armed groups. Without safe spaces for dialogue and youth leadership, tensions grow, communities fragment, and peace remains fragile across the Great Lakes region.
This youth peacebuilding project brings together young people from different communities through dialogue forums, leadership training, and conflict resolution workshops. Participants learn to manage tensions, rebuild trust, and lead local peace actions. By creating safe spaces and practical skills, youth become active leaders for democracy, social cohesion, and long-term stability in DR Cong
Over time, this project builds a generation of youth peace leaders in the Great Lakes region. As trust grows, communities experience less violence and stronger collaboration. Trained youth influence others, creating a ripple effect of dialogue, democratic participation, and social stability. This contributes to lasting peace and reduces the cycle of conflict in DR Congo.
