Dear Friend
Some of us may not have experienced abuse first hand, but most of us know someone who has. We do not know the details, and survivors do not have to share. Some have faced indescribable violence. According to the WHO, violence against women is highly prevalent globally, and intimate partner abuse is the most common form of abuse.
Everyone deserves to feel safe, and no one should live in fear of another person.
At TELL, we support the international community in Japan as the only English speaking crisis line in the country. As of June 2022, the TELL Lifeline has handled 4,042 connections. 2,007 of these connections are from female identifying users. In the past six months, our Support Workers have applied the Domestic Abuse protocol 74 times. That's roughtly 12 cases of support for survivors of abuse every month.
The Lifeline continues to expand, and we are now offering 30 more shifts a month to provide support for more users. As we ramp up our coverage on the line, we are increasing our number of trainings. This year, TELL is currently holding its first ever summer training session to help us build momentum to delivering 24 hour support.
Your donation allows the lifeline to continue to operate and provide support. Because of you, we continue to be here, ready to listen.
Annual Fundraiser: Step Up and the Tokyo Tower Climb
This Fall, we will be holding our annual fundraising events, Step Up and the Tokyo Tower Climb. This will be the first time that we will be holding the Tower Climb since the pandemic began. Both Step Up and the Tokyo Tower Climb are fun events where members of the community can come together to support mental health in our community. For more information about the Tokyo Tower Climb, please see our website at: tellevents.org
Get your Company Involved: Sponsorship Opportunities
At TELL, we rely on sponsorships and donations to continue our work. We are working with companies to engage their employees, demonstrate leadership in mental health support, and get more hands on learning about mental health coping strategies. Show your employees, teams, and the community your commitment to mental health and wellbeing and make a stand for mental health by sponsoring TELL today. For more information, contact our development team at development@telljp.com
Everyday, TELL continues to connect with users in need because of your support. On behalf of the TELL team, our volunteer support workers, and our users, we extend our heartfelt gratitude.
Be Well.
