Thanks to your continued support, women and children in the earthquake region are rebuilding their lives step by step. Not only recovering from loss, but leading change in their communities. Every training, every shared meal, every moment of play and laughter in our centers carries your support within it.
Rebuilding from the Ground Up
Since the earthquakes, KEDV has been working side by side with women in Hatay, Kahramanmaras, Gaziantep. Together, we are helping families rebuild their daily lives, livelihoods, and confidence with dignity and determination.
Across our Women and Children’s Centers, communities continue to find safe spaces for learning, solidarity, and hope.
Children at the Center of Recovery
Playing Heals: Early Childhood Support in Our Women and Children’s Centers
Under our Early Childhood Program, we established Children’s Playrooms in the Women and Children’s Centers to provide daycare services and structured early learning support, while also organizing social events for all age groups. Guided by the principle that “playing heals,” we also launched a Toy Library Program to ensure ongoing engagement with children and families. Not only inside the centers, but also at home and in public spaces.
Playrooms: Safe, Structured Spaces for Psychosocial Recovery
To strengthen children’s psychosocial recovery, playrooms were established in both Islahiye and Nur Women and Children’s Centers, offering safe and stimulating environments for children aged 3-6. These sessions foster cognitive, emotional, and social development through guided, age-appropriate play.
Activities are conducted on weekdays between 9:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m., supporting children’s routines and helping restore a sense of normality through structured play. The playrooms also encourage interaction between children and parents and strengthen trust and connection within families.
In addition, mother–child groups bring together mothers and children aged 0-12 to share experiences, strengthen interaction, and support children’s holistic development. Participation in these sessions has increased notably in recent months, reflecting the growing community interest in safe, inclusive, and stimulating environments for children.
Toy Libraries: Extending Learning and Play Beyond the Centers
Alongside the playrooms, toy libraries were established to provide a structured borrowing system featuring non-violent, educational, and inclusive toys. These libraries target children aged 0-12, enabling them to borrow educational toys, books, puppets, and games that bring learning and play into the home environment.
By extending access beyond the centers, the toy libraries nurture creativity, reinforce family bonds, and promote intra-family communication.
To reach children facing access barriers, we have also introduced mobile toy library activities, delivering toys and educational materials directly to schools and public spaces. Ensuring that more children can access safe and healing play.
Health, Healing, and Sisterhood
True recovery begins with care and connection. Through community-based support activities, women continue to come together, share experiences, rebuild confidence, and strengthen well-being.
One woman said,
“We women stood together. We drew strength from each other.”
In every center, women and children continue to heal, learn, and lead showing that when solidarity grows, recovery becomes lasting.

Our work is guided by a simple but powerful belief: solidarity creates lasting change. Women in our centers lead community initiatives that strengthen trust and cooperation in their neighborhoods. Every day we see women organizing, learning, producing, and rebuilding their lives with courage and creativity.
