Dear KEDV Supporters,
Thank you for standing with women and children as they continue to rebuild their lives in the aftermath of the 6 February earthquakes in Türkiye.
In this report, we are pleased to share that our solidarity network has grown once again.
A New Center in Antakya: Expanding Our Network of Solidarity,
In partnership with Antakya Municipality, we have opened a new Women and Children’s Center in Antakya. This new center adds to our growing network in the earthquake region and strengthens our long-term commitment to community-based recovery.
This milestone builds on a model we first developed after the 1999 Marmara Earthquake, and reactivated following the 6 February earthquakes: Women and Children’s Centers as spaces of collective care, learning, and empowerment.
In Antakya, this model continues to take root, creating a place where women can reconnect, organize, and strengthen their livelihoods, while children grow in safe and supportive environments.
Children Growing in Safe and Healing Spaces
Across our centers, children are supported through structured early childhood programs designed to restore routine, safety, and emotional well-being after crisis.
In Antakya specifically:
Through play-based learning, children develop cognitive and social skills while regaining a sense of normalcy. Special workshops during holidays and thematic days are also being developed to reach older age groups.
Beyond learning, the center also responds to essential needs, including health awareness sessions, vaccination guidance, and distribution of basic necessities for families with babies. For adolescent girls, menstrual health workshops create safe spaces for information sharing and awareness.
Impact Across the Earthquake Region
With the opening of this new center, our wider impact continues to grow:
Each of these numbers represents a story of recovery of women rebuilding income, of children finding safety in play, and of communities holding on to hope together.
A Space for Belonging and Recovery
The Antakya Women and Children’s Center is a shared space of recovery, trust, and resilience. A place where women and children can gather, heal, learn, and imagine a more equal future.
Yet recovery is a long-term process. Three years after the earthquakes, women and children in the region still need safe spaces, educational opportunities, and community networks that help them move forward.
Your regular support makes this possible and every contribution helps keep these centers open!
