Update on the progress report on

By Samuel Akaraonye | Founder/CEO

This report provides an update on the progress of the No Child Should Drink Dirty Water in S/East project (ID: 54325). Our mission is to improve access to safe, clean, and reliable drinking water for children and vulnerable communities across South-East Nigeria while promoting hygiene, sanitation, and public health.

Although we have not yet received external financial support for this project, we remain committed to advancing our mission through innovation, community engagement, and the support of our social enterprise.

2. . Appreciation to GlobalGiving

We sincerely appreciate GlobalGiving for providing a trusted platform that connects grassroots organizations with compassionate supporters worldwide.

Although no external donations were received during this reporting period, we are grateful for the opportunity to share our vision with the global community. We remain hopeful that future partnerships and donor support will enable us to expand our impact.

3. . Funding Status

During this reporting period, the project did not receive any external financial donations.

Despite this, we continued to dedicate our time, expertise, and resources through our social enterprise to advance planning, awareness, and community-focused activities in support of the project's objectives.

4. . Project ActivitiesClean Water Advocacy

We continued to raise awareness about the importance of safe drinking water, proper hygiene, and sanitation as essential components of child health and disease prevention.

Community Engagement

We engaged with community members to better understand local water challenges and identify practical, sustainable solutions that can improve access to clean water for children and vulnerable families.

Research and Planning

We continued researching affordable and sustainable water purification, treatment, and distribution approaches that can be implemented in underserved communities when funding becomes available.

Food Innovation & Training Hub (FIT-Hub)

Through our Food Innovation & Training Hub (FIT-Hub), we continued promoting education on safe water handling, food hygiene, sanitation, and public health practices, recognizing that clean water is fundamental to food safety and healthy communities.

5. . Social Enterprise Support

Although no external funding has yet been received, our social enterprise continues to provide in-kind support by sustaining project planning, public awareness efforts, community engagement, and technical development.

Over the past three years, our commitment to improving community health through nutrition, food safety, and sustainable development has strengthened our readiness to implement safe water interventions once adequate funding is secured.

6. . Estimated Impact

Even without external financial support, the project has continued to make encouraging progress.

Community Reach

  • Approximately 25–40 individuals reached through awareness activities on safe drinking water, hygiene, and sanitation.
  • 10–15 households engaged in discussions on clean water practices and disease prevention.
  • Increased community awareness of the health risks associated with unsafe drinking water and poor sanitation.

Capacity Building

  • Community members gained practical knowledge on water hygiene, safe storage of drinking water, and sanitation practices.
  • Continued preparation for future community-based clean water interventions.

7.  Challenges

The major challenge remains the lack of external funding to support water infrastructure, water purification systems, borehole development, hygiene education materials, and community outreach.

With adequate funding, we will be able to implement sustainable clean water solutions that directly improve the health and wellbeing of children and vulnerable families.

8. . Prospects and Future Plans

In the coming months, we aim to:

  • Develop community-based safe drinking water initiatives.
  • Install or rehabilitate clean water sources in underserved communities.
  • Distribute water purification solutions where appropriate.
  • Expand hygiene and sanitation education programmes for schools and communities.
  • Build partnerships with organizations working in water, sanitation, and hygiene (WASH).
  • Strengthen community capacity to manage and maintain sustainable water systems.

We remain confident that, with future donor support, we can help ensure that no child in South-East Nigeria is forced to drink unsafe water.

9. . Conclusion

Although we have not yet received external financial support, our commitment to ensuring that every child has access to safe drinking water remains unwavering. Through careful planning, community engagement, and the continued support of our social enterprise, we are laying the foundation for lasting impact.

We sincerely thank GlobalGiving for providing this platform and look forward to partnering with supporters who share our vision of protecting children's health through access to clean and safe drinking water.

With sincere gratitude,

Rosita Agomuo
