Our life saving education never stops

By Oleksii Oryshchenko | Project Leader

Due to the ongoing war, the life circumstances in Ukraine keep posing ever growing threats to all, especially to those of younger age. That is why, the Ukrainian Red Cross continues its tireless efforts to spread the precious life-saving knowledge even in the remotest cities and settlements of the country, focusing its activities on children and teenagers.

Below you will find several highlights from the past few months of work of different Ukrainian Red Cross branches across the country:

Ukrainian Red Cross instructors joined the regional local history festival "My Land, My Pride!" in Cherkasy, which was attended by children from 6 communities in Cherkasy Oblast, where the volunteers held information sessions on increasing the knowledge about the explosive devices and other types of threats, impact of explosive devices, types of dangerous places and their identification, reviewed examples of dangerous behavior and discussed the algorithm of safer behavior.

THE UKRAINIAN RED CROSS HELD A SUMMER SESSION "SAFE VACATIONS" IN SUMY REGION
Children aged 11-14 were invited to join the summer session. In a few days, the students mastered first aid skills, learned about mine danger and the algorithm of actions in case of detection of dangerous objects, and learned orienteering and the basics of tourism. The event was also attended by our partners, the State Emergency Service of Ukraine, who shared information that can save lives and prevent accidents today.

KYIV CITY RED CROSS BRANCH HOSTED AN AWARENESS-RAISING EVENT IN SUPPORT OF INTERNALLY DISPLACED PERSONS
During the event there were workshops and lectures on the following topics:

First aid - people were taught how to perform cardiopulmonary resuscitation, methods of transportation, etc;
Mine danger - people were informed about actions in case of detection of explosive devices;
Psychosocial support - activities with elements of creativity to support people's psycho-emotional state.
