We found 5 new changemakers! Yes, 5 people decided to take the plunge, be social entrepreneurs and create social impact through their innovative ideas.
Doesn't seem like a lot of people? Will they be able to make any difference?
Six months ago, 10 start-ups joined our program. Just like the 5 who joined us recently, they too had ideas for transformational change. These ideas became plans and the plans became actions. On completing half of their journey with us, we decided to take a step back, to analyse what happened in the last six months.
UnLtd Tamil Nadu hosted a ‘Mid-Year Assessment’ day for the 10 start-ups who joined our program in April 2014. A day of reflection, of sharing big wins and finding solutions for roadblocks.
On that day we discovered how a community of changemakers can motivate and support each other to grow and develop. Karthik from Sristi village got support from Sivalingam and Kumari from CARE society to teach agriculture to differently abled people. Parvati from Amritha Herbal unit gave seeds of medicinal plants to Karthik so she could buy the plants later for her herbal unit. The seeds from the plants would later go to CARE society’s seed bank for future harvesting.
Collaborations like these can work wonders for our society, in the larger picture this could mean bigger corporations & governments working with social businesses and organisations to change the world. What a wonderful world it would be!
The 10 start-ups were collectively able to impact more than 5000 people and generate INR 10284893 in revenue & funds - all in just 6 months!
Does an addition of 5 new changemakers still feel like a small number?
