When violence happens repeatedly, there is a danger that communities begin to see it as inevitable.
When harmful practices have existed for generations, people may stop questioning them.
When survivors are blamed or silenced, others may become afraid to speak.
But violence against women and girls should never become normal.
Globally, violence against women remains widespread. In communities already affected by conflict, displacement, and poverty, existing vulnerabilities can become even more difficult to address.
GoGreen believes sustainable change requires more than responding after harm has occurred.
We must also challenge the attitudes, misinformation, and harmful norms that allow violence to continue.
Through Support Sexual Health Rights for Women and Girls, we aim to engage 400 women, girls, and young people in Benue State through peer-led education, community dialogue, rights-based sexual and reproductive health information, and awareness initiatives.
We want communities to recognize gender-based violence as unacceptable.
We want young people to understand dignity, rights, and informed decision-making.
We want harmful practices such as child marriage and sexual violence to be questioned rather than accepted.
And we want women and girls to feel better equipped to seek appropriate information and support.
Changing norms takes time.
But every conversation can begin to challenge an assumption.
Every informed young person can influence another.
Every community dialogue can create space for change.
Someone must help start those conversations.
This project currently has no donor support.
Will you help us begin?
Donate today and stand with communities working toward a future where violence is never accepted as normal.
