Vilma, a 31-year-old woman who has the responsibility of caring for and providing for her 7 children. She was one of the first participants in our Makiami - Yubuami knitting program, where participants from the Rodeopamba community learn to knit with a simple, practical and effective technique. This is how Vilma has found an alternative way to her agricultural activities to generate extra income, selling her hats and scarves.
The lack of access to training for women in rural communities limits their opportunities to learn and work. Without adequate guidance, it is difficult for them to develop new skills that allow them to start their own businesses or generate additional income. This challenge highlights the need to provide training and support so that they can improve their living conditions and achieve their professional goals.
Knitting training has been key for women in rural communities, providing them with valuable skills to generate additional income. The case of Vilma, who improved her economy thanks to these trainings, demonstrates the positive impact that these trainings can have. Offering knitting training allows many women to improve their economic situation and create opportunities for themselves and their families.
Knitting training offers women skills that can transform their lives and their communities. By improving their personal finances, women can invest in their families and local development. Furthermore, sharing these skills and generating products for sale encourages the creation of microbusinesses, strengthens the local economy and promotes self-sufficiency. This lasting impact improves quality of life and empowers women to lead positive changes in their communities.
