Young students at the Pathways Programme
Acknowledgements: On this Peruvian Independence Day, we celebrate the road to National and Individual Sovereignty.
Amantani has been incredibly blessed this last month with some substantial donations which all goes towards maintaining our projects and for which we offer all our thanks, from the Amanzon, the Andes, the EU and the UK.
If you’re keen to support the young people of Peru through our projects, please do consider skipping a coffee once a month and pledging £3 per month on GlobalGiving to help us reach our goal. Your generosity helps us to provide quality education, promote sustainability, and empower the next generation of leaders in the Amazon and the Andes.

PROJECT UPDATE
So far in 2024, you have helped Amantani proudly conduct the first edition of the Pathways Programme in Iquitos. The programme has been a transformative experience for over 240 young people.Your support has helped provided a vital platform for young people to engage in meaningful personal development and receive vocational guidance in addition to a comprehensive mix of academic workshops for senior secondary school students, preparing them for future educational opportunities.
In addition to studying, the group had a little time for fun and bonding. Notably, the group organised a delightful beach day in San Juan, fostering camaraderie and community spirit while providing a rare break from the day-to-day cycle of poverty.
As a close and engaged supporter of ours, I wanted to share with you some thoughts from the Jungle and the actual projects after the most recent trip.....
"The enthusiasm and dedication from the young participants is truly inspiring. Witnessing their growth and their break from the cycle of poverty is incredibly fulfilling"
“My recent trip to Angoteros was eye-opening. Deep in the rainforest, a two-day trip by boat, close to the Ecuadorian border, I was privileged to be part of a gathering of native leaders. Talking about cultural heritage and understanding their daily challenges, the remoteness of their villages, the threat of illegal mining and deforestation has deepened my commitment to our mission. Despite the difficulties they face, thespirit of the communities and the hope for better educational opportunities for their children are incredibly motivating.”
Thilo continues..
“Have you ever seen some of the tick tocks some of our young people create? It is wonderful to see how young people can blend their ancestral knowledge with modern technology and how access to a good education is part of this. Their pride in their heritage and eagerness to contribute to their communities’ sustainable development is a testament to the power of culturally respectful education.” - Dr Thilo Boeck, Projects Director.
It’s only with your support and collaborative efforts in country that Amantani is able to strive to help young people gain confidence and keep their dreams of a life without poverty alive. This first edition is just a first step - and it wouldn't be possible with out you.

Promoting Sustainability
Did you know Amantani is committed to sustainability? It is something that underpins all our efforts in the Amazon. By promoting environmental conservation alongside educational empowerment, we see firsthand the positive impacts on local communities. Innovative educational strategies and continuous feedback from students and experts drive our evolving approach, ensuring long-term success and adaptability.
Future Prospects
Escaping poverty is a progressive journey. Each young person we support represents hope and potential for their community, for Peru and for all of us who are part of this journey. You’ve helped build so much so far and with your continued support we can build even more pathways and lifteven more young people out of this terrible cycle.
I'll leave the final word toThilo, I’m sure this resonates with you. "It's a privilege to be part of the young people’s journey, witnessing the ripple effect of their efforts and achievements, and seeing first-hand the impact on Puruvian rural communities"
