The GivingTuesday campaign is a global day of giving celebrated by nonprofits, corporations, and donors. As a founding partner of GivingTuesday, GlobalGiving has championed this day of fundraising since its inception in 2012 to help our nonprofit community make the most of every giving season!

GivingTuesday is an opportunity to harness the generosity of people around the world to bring about real change in your community. On Tuesday, December 3, 2024, GlobalGiving is offering our community of partners an Incentive Fund of $750, 000 to maximize their fundraising efforts. The more your organization raises, the more bonus funds you'll unlock!

Eligibility

All Partners, Leaders, and Superstar organizations are eligible to participate in the campaign. Emerging organizations and GlobalGiving-sponsored projects and Funds are ineligible to participate in this campaign.

All active projects and microprojects associated with eligible organizations will be automatically included on the campaign leaderboard (no opt-in required).

The deadline to submit a new project or microproject for inclusion in this campaign was November 21, 2024.

What is GivingTuesday?

GivingTuesday was created in 2012 as a "global generosity movement unleashing the power of people and organizations to transform their communities and the world." GlobalGiving is celebrating GivingTuesday with the nonprofit community through our $750K Incentive Fund.
How do I join the GivingTuesday campaign?
All associated active projects and microprojects will be automatically included, so you don't need to do anything to register! The deadline to submit a project for inclusion in this campaign is November 21 at 5:00 PM ET.
How will the $750K Incentive Fund be distributed among partners?
The $750K Incentive Fund will be distributed proportionally based on final fundraising totals. Every project that activates donors will earn something, and the projects that bring in the most dollars will win the largest portion of the Incentive Fund. Each participant’s portion of the Incentive Fund is determined as follows: [Total Eligible Project Donations] ÷ [Total Donations To All Projects in the campaign] * [$750,000] ≈ Your portion of the Incentive Fund
What if a donor contributes $3,000 to our project?
Donations up to $1,800 are eligible towards the incentive fund so the first $1,800 of the $3,000 will count towards the match your organization receives from that one donation.
What if a donor donates before the campaign has started?
GivingTuesday begins at midnight ET and any donations that come in before this time will not be eligible for the match. Donations made outside of the campaign will not be eligible to receive Incentive Funds and GlobalGiving cannot change the time, date, or status of a donation after it is processed. Can we pre-collect donations from our donors and give during the 24 hour campaign?
Per the campaign Terms + Conditions, donations cannot be pre-collected and must be made by the individual on the day of the campaign.
How will I know how much of the Incentive Fund I will receive?
Allocation of the $750K will be displayed on the Leaderboard and will be recalculated every three minutes until the campaign ends.
What donation methods are eligible for this campaign?
Online donations (credit card, debit card, PayPal, Apple Pay, and individually purchased GlobalGiving gift cards) and mobile donations through M-Changa will count towards your total raised on #GivingTuesday. Ineligible donations include cash, check, corporate gift card redemptions, CAF check, CAF Online, wire transfers, text-to-give donations, donations made via JustGiving, donations made on a GlobalGiving corporate or organizational giving site, or donations made directly to an organization rather than a project.
Why Use The Incentive Fund Model?
Traditional matching campaign models don’t scale to fit campaigns with partners around the globe. The Incentive Fund allows us to use a proportional match, rather than a percentage match, which is much more fair to all participants. With the Incentive Fund, funding won’t run out before the sun rises where you or your donors live.
