CARE Society and myHarvest wish to thank you again for your precious help! Your donations have helped them tremendously carry out their projects and have even more impact on the field.
Thanks to the funds raised, CARE Society was able to conduct a series of training sessions centered on micro-irrigation, milk animal rearing, block gram cultivation, poonkar paddy cultivation and finger millet cultivation techniques; thus reaching out to 163 beneficiaries in 7 village panchayats. Thanks to the funds received CARE Society could purchase 480 kg of seeds redistributed to a total of 66 farmers as follow:
- 50 kg Kuthiraivalli helped 16 farmers
- 100 kg Thinai helped 24 farmers
- 50 kg Varaku helped 7 farmers
- 80 kg Block gram helped 16 farmers
- 200 kg Poonkar paddy helped 3 farmers
In the past few months, myHarvest was able to conduct 3 workshops:
- The workshop entitled “Setting up an edible school garden” was conducted at Athangi Kavanur Government School on July 28, 2017.
- The Workshop entitled “Growing your own food” was conducted at MCN Higher Secondary School in August 2017.
- The Workshop entitled “Connecting closer to food” was conducted at the Chennai Corporation School in October 2017.
My Harvest will continue working with Athangi Kavanur School and support the garden initiative. They are planning on spending the remaining Rs.8,400 to add more plants and maintain the garden.
