Dear friend,
Hope you and your family are well and keeping safe.
With this email, we are sharing with you the updates for our project titled “Help us keep wildlife forever wild”. Thank you so much for believing in our work and also for your generous donation to the project.
During the reporting period, an elephant calf was rescued from a human settlement in Pasighat, Arunachal Pradesh on 14th August, 2020. It was taken to Itanagar Zoo for a preliminary examination and was found to be under severe stress with some injuries to its body. The lockdown was in full swing when the month-old elephant was transferred to Pakke tiger reserve to be hand reared, where it was fed 22 litres of milk a day.
As part of an RAP, one month’s supply of milk was provided to feed the animal. After a year of caretaking, the animal christened “Bokhonto”, has become rather dependent on its caretaker. It is now being trained to forage so that it can become independent and be rehabilitated into the wild.
We will be soon sharing the updates on the project with you in the next report. Till then, stay safe and take care.
Warm regards,
Team WTI
