School on Wheels has a lofty goal for this year: to provide one-on-one academic support to 1,800 children and youth.
The more tutors we can recruit and train, the more students we can serve.
School on Wheels has been serving children experiencing homelessness since 1993. Over the years, we've been fortunate to witness many full-circle moments - when former students return as volunteers, donors, and even board and staff members.
We first met Killiy and her family over a decade ago when they were navigating the challenges of homelessness. Recently, we had the joy of reconnecting with her - this time as a volunteer with the UC Irvine School on Wheels Club.
Killiy shared that she never forgot the caring tutors and volunteers who supported her family during such a difficult chapter. Today, she is attending college alongside her twin sister, and we are incredibly proud to see her still part of the School on Wheels family - now giving back as a volunteer.
Because of your support, students like Killiy can overcome barriers to learning, build confidence, and create brighter futures.
