Strengthening JUNAX networks

This is how we walk...

The Junax project (our Community House) it is recognized as a safe and politicized space for the national and international community that identifies values and analyzes our work for the benefit of unprotected groups in society. Contributing with their knowledge and skills, alternative forms of decent life for the population.
The volunteers contribute their knowledge for the construction of a dignified life. Upon returning to their places of origin, they sensitize and sow the seed of consciousness in their community. Disseminating the importance of your cooperation, to continue paying and strengthening this path.

From this corner of the house, the daily actions that we know will bloom together with the participation of the Voluntarix are coordinated.

We take care of the relevance of the academic profile or of the skilled workforce, which contributes utility to the linked project. Keeping in force with the two specific objectives: liaison – linking of the volunteer, and the community house where they live during the permanence of their activities.

The work of the volunteers  varies  and is defined according to the different themes of social projects, education, health, mental health, sexual and reproductive health, food, agro ecology, environment, communication, community services (water, electricity, drainage) Children in street situations, gender and strengthening of groups, among others. Such as the moral commitment for everything we do, respect, solidarity and honesty, values that are the pillar in the philosophy of the project.

The social organizations with which we form the strengthening network are favored with the voluntary contribution, since the lack of financing is a constant for the achievement of their objectives.
The dynamics and times are specific in each organization, as well as activities to develop. Each project structure has a defined trajectory and many of the actions to carry out programmed by its annual plan of activities.
Sensitive volunteers in the project environment, who support, visualize and innovate ideas that strengthen the accompanying consummated, or be retaken by future volunteers.

They also learn from community life, their spirit of contribution and they sharing is accomplish. Thus eradicating indifference to various social needs, encouraging interest in the common good.

As an example, we have at home a national partner who, reflecting, stopped his activities, opting for the relevance of sharing his time and knowledge with vulnerable populations. (Teenagers who will soon determine their path, opening horizons of self-sufficiency.)

The solidarity of the colleagues of the University of Caen, France, approached Junax in order to be linked with the different organizations with which we collaborate, in this way their participation benefited the organization that integrates our network, “Angels of love ”, Which supports the population with different disabilities. The volunteers work in the care of small gardens for self-consumption and strengthen their economy with the harvest.
In the community of San Felipe Ecatepec, Chiapas, they accompanied the group of Mothers who annually prepare summer workshops where they share art with children and generate human values.

Thanks to donations (global giving and Junax community), the community house has eleven new mattresses, and there has been maintenance (repair and painting to the house) that in previous years had not been possible.
This is how the spaces are more comfortable and appropriate for everyone.

With the contributions that have made possible and significant, that Junax provides small scholarships to volunteers who without this support would not be possible their work and permanence, due to their lacking economies.

 From Junax workshops and conversations.

In our weekly assemblies, issues of coexistence of the house, discussed, giving proposals for a better way to cohabit. Thus, the voluntarixs assume the commitment of unity in Junax.

Monthly we give the Junax community a workshop on geographic, historical, political, social and human rights content, as context and awareness, prior to their visits to the community.

In the conversation from the voice of the companions of Caen University, Normandy, France, the complex situation in France explained, in the context of yellow vests.
The members of the Institute for Intercultural Studies and Research (INESIN) invited to share with the Junax community the Indian theology workshop, where the ancestral customs and wisdom shared

.
In the moments of recreation, the community congregates to share workshops of Embroidery, art, music, screen-printing, chess, restoration of murals, filling of books, preparation and consumption of food, as well as screening of documentaries.

Another goal has been the transmission of the

radio program ¡Oye compa! Platform where

the volunteer and guests express their opinion

and comment on their experience about

 their activities.

In! Oye Compa! The themes we share with radio listeners are varied, social, political, health, migration, liberation theology, indigenous worldview, as well as contents of social projects that we accompany current international social-political events ... Music, Art, poetry, adding a dash of humor and joy.

"Casa de las Flores", a member of our strengthening network, give a voice to its children express thoughts, and the way they see their surroundings. The boys of Brigade LAG of Norway and the Ibero-American community of Coahuila collaborated in the literary part.
We are an objective and critical independent space, where customs and / or similarities between Mexico and the international context seen with an intercultural look. That arises as a concern of the volunteer partner Marion, of French nationality.

Listen to us on Thursday 18:30hrs https://www.frecuencialibre.info
There are many stories that pass in Junax, the volunteers leave their mark with murals, poems, slogans, songs, photos, letters and good wishes to continue strengthening the community.

Junax is defined by three important areas that are its raison d'être: collective life; the lodging and coexistence of volunteers in the same space; links with civil society organizations and accompaniment of communities.

Strengthening this first area of our work is fundamental; since Junax seeks to create a space not only where all volunteers live in cooperation, but also where values are forged; values that arise from collective life and  have an immense impact on the participation of volunteers in their projects. Here ideas, goals, dreams are forged; they are translated into initiatives, proposals and changes that energize life in the house and give deeper meaning to the stay of each volunteer. The creation of programs such as Oye Compa, an alternative news outlet run entirely through the collaboration of Junax volunteers, is proof of this.

Collective living in Casa Junax promotes empathy, solidarity, and engagement with the social context that surrounds us. This leads to action and to various campaigns: on humanitarian issues, forced displacements, defense of the territory, migrant caravan, among other causes. Living collectively also promotes the sharing of food, clothing and medicines to meet specific needs. Volunteers care for eachother while supporting the broader community, through the dissemination of events, demonstrations, struggles for human rights, campaigns for the release of political prisoners, and press conferences for those in resistance. Junax shares these causes and involves volunteers, while also making available the means for support when support is needed.

Offering the capacity to house 32 volunteers from different corners of the world who can turn Junax into their home is one of our main objectives. This is the beginning of the journey for each volunteer, who arrives at Junax with the hope and willingness to contribute their time, skills and knowledge and to leave a mark that is imprinted through the work they do. And finally, the labor and experiences of each volunteer have an impact on the organizations, people, and populations with which they work.

Many come to Junax in a moment of personal search and reflection; and each path is enriched by having contact with other environments and coworkers of different nationalities, each one with his or her own life stories. However, each volunteer touches the same reality of struggle in Chiapas, and each shares what has brought them here with the community. Volunteers become companions, friends, brothers and sisters.

Junax wants this atmosphere of collective living to be a space to learn and unlearn, through workshops on political formation and human rights, and participation in different activities both inside and outside the house. Junax is the headquarters, offering a space for reflection, dialogue and exchange. This is where the real impact of the volunteers emerges, in their collaboration, which is the most significant contribution to surrounding territories and populations.

In addition to equipping and adapting the spaces of the house, which deteriorate through use over time, we seek the practical functioning of the coexistence between the volunteers, creating awareness of how to care for resources and cultivate respect for all.  By covering the needs of this first area-the needs of the house and collective living--Junax can give the necessary push to establish connections to organizations and accompaniment, so that the project continues moving forward, alive and in motion.
