During the winter months, at Safe Horizon we are especially aware of the need for services for homeless youth, like that we provide through our Streetwork Project. Even on the coldest nights, our Streetwork outreach team is traveling throughout New York City in their van, providing warm coats, sleeping bags, snacks, safer sex supplies, and friendly conversation to young people on the streets and in train stations.
Youth can even call our outreach team and ask for services, and we will come to them. These services are critical all year round, but winter is an especially risky time for these young people, and since 1984 it has been Streetwork's mission to reach homeless youth where they are and offer an invitation to supportive services. Last year, we made nearly 16,000 contacts with young people throughout all of New York City's five boroughs.
You can read more about Streetwork Project on our website. Thank you so much for your GlobalGiving donation, which provides the support we need to continue meeting homeless young people with a helping hand this winter and year round.
